Mike Casto is one of a handful of students I've trained who I believe is in it for the long haul, and will make true and impressive contributions to the study and art of self-defense.
I met Guru Mike at the '98 Kuntao Silat de Thouars Family Gathering. I started training with him about a year later. For a while we trained in class at least 20 hours a week. Mike is an incredible Silat practitioner and a better teacher. Guru Mike is one of the best teachers I have seen in over 35 years of martial arts training.
In todays dangerous world an art focused on practicality and methods that work NOW is vital. Guru Mike offers that practicality with a sense of confidence that you will always be able to rise to the challenge.
I started studying with Guru Mike in early 2007. Prior to that, I had done extensive research into the art of Silat but had been unable to find anyone in the area who taught this beautiful and deadly art. As a former member of 1st SFOD-D (Delta Force), I was exposed to various systems to aid in our missions. None compared to the training I got with Guru Mike.
The training I got from Guru Mike seems really practical to me. The more I learn, the more confident I am that I can protect myself and my loved ones from a violent assault.
Mike's contributions to both my [online] group and suggestions in training have been invaluable to me. He is highly interactive and has shown a great deal of patience answering my questions. I look forward to the time to actually take a class with him. Thank you, Mike!
